Joan Huebl, Psy.D.

Joan E. Huebl, Psy.D.received her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.  She interned at Kaiser-Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center and trained at the Greater Los Angeles VA.  Dr. Huebl completed post-doctoral work in individual and couples therapy at the Rose City Counseling Center in Pasadena, CA, and in supervision, psychological and neuropsychological assessment at the Pepperdine Community Counseling Center in Encino, CA.  Dr. Huebl also worked with the team psychologist of the Los Angeles Kings doing neuropsychological evaluations following head injuries to help assess player readiness to return to the ice.

She has been an adjunct faculty member at Pepperdine University and the University of Northern Colorado.  Dr. Huebl has published in the areas of depression, adolescent mood disorders, suicide, and sexual development.  She recently published a book on adolescent depression, Beating Depression:  Teens Find Light at the End of the Tunnel(Scholastic, 2007)

Dr. Huebl regularly presents workshops and in-services on workplace stress, age related cognitive changes, older adult sexuality, coping with pet loss, overcoming anxiety, and mind/body health.

Her areas of expertise include mood, anxiety, and stress disorders, pain and illness management, grief and loss, premarital/commitment counseling, individual and couples therapy, and issues of older adults and aging.  In her psychology practice, Dr. Huebl is dedicated to assisting each individual in discovering the quality of life s/he desires.

Prior to embarking on her psychology career, Dr. Huebl ran a successful management consulting business that focused on organizational, productivity, and conflict resolution issues for small businesses and professional partnerships.

Dr. Huebl is a Member of the American Psychological Association.  Dr. Huebl has practiced in Northern Colorado since 2005.
